From 1 July 2015, due to the regional law of 25 May 2015, n. 12, the functions of the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences have been transferred to the Biodiversity and Natural Protected Areas Structure of the Environment, Territory and Sustainable Mobility Department. The museum now called "Efisio Noussan Regional Museum of Natural Sciences", in memory of its founder, consists of the exhibition site at the castle of Saint-Pierre and the operational headquarters at the scientific-naturalistic research center of the Marais de La Salle.
Operational headquarters of the "Efisio Noussan Regional Museum of Natural Sciences" of Saint Pierre, the scientific-naturalistic research center is located in the immediate vicinity of the Marais nature reserve, in a building that groups offices, two scientific laboratories, two classrooms, a library , a consultation room and rooms used as an archive and deposit for the museum's collections.
The Center deals with the management and maintenance of collections and the library, scientific research and educational dissemination.
In the laboratories of the Museum, research projects are developed and promoted in various fields, from the study and conservation of natural and agri-food biodiversity, to the enhancement of museum collections, as well as didactic-training projects.
The library now has over 6000 volumes, including naturalistic texts and scientific or information periodicals published by universities, scientific and environmental associations, Italian and foreign museums, obtained above all in exchange with the "Revue Valdôtaine d'Histoire Naturelle", published by the Société de la Flore Valdôtaine.
