Pedona Abbey Museum

The Pedona Abbey Museum was founded in November 2005 on the initiative of the then pro tempore parish priest Don Giovanni Quaranta and Dr. Egle Micheletto of the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Piedmont and the Egyptian Antiquities Museum. The architectural and set-up project was directed by the architect Alessandro Scapolla. The management of the museum is entrusted to the parish of San Dalmazzo, while the Pedo Dalmatia Cultural Association, which carries out its activities through the contribution of volunteers, takes care of accompanying visitors.

Since its opening it has registered a total of 17025 visitors, with an average of 1215 per year.

The Museum of the Abbey of San Dalmazzo di Pedona represents a path of extreme charm that allows you to cross 2,000 years of history, touching the signs of different historical periods. The Museum consists of three sections - Museum Route, Archaeological Route and Parish Museum - linked together in an evocative visit route that has its heart in the Romanesque crypt of the parish church.

From the square in front of the Museum, clues to the complex stratification of the wall structures of different eras are gathered.
In fact, the apses of the Romanesque church overlap the remains of the Lombard building left exposed under a glass roof. Entering the museum, three rooms display excavated finds and a rich set of images and illustrations that allow you to reconstruct the history of the settlement.

The museum itinerary of the Museum of the Abbey of Pedona in Borgo San Dalmazzo - owned by the parish - winds through three exhibition rooms dedicated respectively to the history of the Abbey of Pedona, the city of San Dalmazzo di Pedona in Roman times and the decorations that embellished the Abbey.

The museum is enriched by an underground archaeological section that accompanies the visitor on a visit to the fascinating Romanesque crypt.
An area dedicated to the parish museum of Borgo San Dalmazzo also finds space at the Abbey Museum.
In addition to the museum itinerary, the structure is equipped with a conference room, two teaching rooms, an outdoor garden that hosts various cultural enhancement activities.

The Museum is managed by the Pedo Dalmatia Association which takes care of the opening activities, guided tours, teaching, communication, enhancement and research
