Mendrisiotto-Stabio Peasant Civilization Museum

The Museum of Peasant Activities was founded in Santa Cristina in 1992 and is linked to the association "Group for local agricultural civilization" which aims to preserve and present numerous objects initially collected by Dr. Dino Cerutti di Borgomanero and other local enthusiasts.

The collection, housed in the former Palazzo Bono, is divided into a gallery and five rooms where the reconstruction of the typical peasant environment is proposed. In addition to the furnishings, the kitchen and bedroom also feature typical clothes and furnishings. Particularly striking is the reconstruction of the schoolroom. You can also admire numerous work tools and vintage photographs, as well as holy cards and religious furnishings that belonged to the Oblates. The walls that flank the staircase are covered with agricultural tools and ancient photographs.

The cellar has also recently been opened to the public. Within this environment, the stages of winemaking will be described with the help of illustrative panels. The venue, seat of conferences and events, has a long vaulted ceiling with exposed bricks; in front of the entrance there is a small reconstructed well and the stable environment.
