Royal Palace of Valcasotto

The Royal Palace of Valcasotto, located in the municipality of Garessio (CN) on the slopes of Bric Mindino at an altitude of 1,090 m, was born in the 11th century as a charterhouse dedicated to San Brunone. Over the centuries it suffered several looting and fires that changed its structure.

In 1803 after the descent into Italy of the Napoleonic troops who, in order to occupy the building, significantly damaged the rear, the Carthusian Order was dissolved and the structure sold to private individuals, to pass in 1837 among the residences of the House of Savoy , purchased by Carlo Alberto, who used the palace as a summer royal residence and his son Vittorio Emanuele II stayed there during several hunting trips.

The royal venaria of Valcasotto was sold in 1881 by King Umberto I to private individuals.
