Stella Maris Monastery

The Carmelite Monastery of Stella Maris is a Catholic convent located on Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel. According to tradition, it would be based on a cave that was the home of the prophet Elijah.

The monastery is located on Mount Carmel, on the heights of the city of Haifa, in the upper Galilee. Revered since ancient times and already mentioned in Egyptian documents of the fourteenth century BC. as one of the conquests of Pharaoh Thutmose III, it is also named in the Bible as the peak from which the prophet Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal.
