The Abbazia del Pero is ideal for organizing events and weddings with dedicated spaces that this suggestive place offers.
Immersed in the heart of the Veneto region, the Abbey, with its thousand years of history, is an authentic architectural treasure. Built around 958 AD. during the Holy Roman Empire, the Benedictine monastery is the oldest building in Monastier (Treviso).
These photos will allow you to appreciate the atmosphere of the ancient cloister with its well and the historical ruins.
In 1493, the Abbot of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice assumed the double title and resumed a period of fervor, the church was enlarged and the cloister was raised with the inclusion of the first floor with mullioned windows.
Other events see it grow until the early 1700s and reach its current size. It will come to its suppression and acquisition as state property, by Napoleone Buonaparte, with subsequent sale to Venetian nobles. During the First World War it became a Rescue Center and Soldier's House but the Austro-Hungarian army, in the last attempt to reach Venice, damaged the church and slightly some buildings.
Of those days we remember the presence of Ernest Hemingway who in the schools of Fornaci was treated and baptized with a Catholic rite, of Julien Green, academic of France and of many characters who will report in their writings the experiences in these places.
It is fun to remember that our premises, in the 1960s, became the set of one of the first horror films: "The Monster of Venice" by Dino Tavella with an Italian-American cast.
The recovery work undertaken gives us the opportunity to welcome our guests in this place, rich in history and charm, both with cultural events and with banquets and private parties. The garden, entirely enclosed with walls of the fifteenth century, allows you to enjoy spaces in an absolutely private and exclusive way.
The Ancient Orchard and the orchard constitute a unique setting for aperitifs and receptions in the green. The space of the cloister, paved with "but signs" and with a Venetian well, magically transport us to a small square.
