Basilica of San Vitale

The Basilica of San Vitale is one of the most famous and important Catholic places of worship in Ravenna, an exemplary masterpiece of early Christian and Byzantine art.

In October 1960 Pope John XXIII elevated it to the dignity of a minor basilica.
