The Palace of Congresses, Villa VittoriaThe Palace of Congresses is a building in Florence located in the Da Basso Fortress, near the Santa Maria Novella station.
Born as Villa Vittoria on the initiative of the Strozzi of Mantua, it was also known as Villa Contini Bonacossi due to the owner who took over, Alessandro Contini Bonacossi; renovated in 1925 by Giovanni Michelucci, it was purchased in 1964 by the autonomous Florentine tourism company and destined for current use through extensions by Enzo Vannucci and Pierluigi Spadolini.
The complex was enhanced with the creation of the congress center from 1965 to 1974.
