Gregorian Egyptian Museum - Vatican Museums


The Gregorian Egyptian Museum is part of the Vatican Museums was founded by Pope Gregory XVI in 1839, the museum houses a large collection of artifacts from ancient Egypt.


The exhibited material includes papyri, mummies, hieroglyphic inscriptions, the famous Book of the Dead and the Grassi Collection.

Most of the material comes from the Villa d'Adriano, in Tivoli, and is arranged over 9 rooms, of which the last two house works of ancient Mesopotamia and Assyria.
