Palazzo Venier dei Leoni is a palace in Venice, located in the Dorsoduro district and overlooking the Grand Canal, not far from the Madonna della Salute and the contemporary art museum of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
The exhibited works include some prominent examples of American modernism and Italian futurism.
The collection also collects cubist, surrealist and abstract expressionism works.
These include noteworthy works by Picasso, Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, BrâncuÈ ™ i (including a sculpture from the Bird in Space series), William Congdon, Conrad Marca-Relli and Jackson Pollock.
The collection of informal Italian abstract art is also complete and of particular value, with important works by Lucio Fontana, Afro Basaldella, Agostino Bonalumi, Toti Scialoja, Giuseppe Santomaso, Tancredi Parmeggiani, Emilio Vedova, Carla Accardi and Rosalda Gilardi. His most famous work is the 1948 bronze The Angel of the City by Marino Marini, positioned in front of the Venier dei Leoni palace, where the museum is located.
