Art and Blockchain, an historic auction on Christie's platform.

On April 16th, a landmark auction wrapped up on the prestigious Christie's platform. It featured the sale of a set titled "Red, Blue, Green, and Orange Eye OMB," comprising four digital artworks inscripted on the Bitcoin blockchain, fetching a modest sum of $441,000.

These crafted artworks, each one unique, are part of the Ordinal Maxi Biz collection and come in four vibrant color variants: Red, Blue, Green, and Orange Eyes. The Red Eyes OMB, engraved since February 2023, stand as among the earliest original hand-drawn pieces on Bitcoin Ordinals. Following suit, the Blue Eyes series emerged, pioneering the Picture-for-Profile (PFP) genre on Block 78, introducing the ingenious concept of "sat hunting" by developer and artist Nullish. Block 78 holds significance as it was mined by Hal Finney, a trusted associate of Satoshi Nakamoto (who is the creator of bitcoin) and the first to receive a bitcoin transaction, marking it as the initial block mined by someone other than Nakamoto. The Green Eyes series gained recognition as the premier PFP artwork engraved on Block 9, which is the first Bitcoin circulated and mined directly by Nakamoto. Subsequently, the Orange Eyes series was engraved on February 11, 2024, coinciding with Super Bowl LVIII.

Ordinal Maxi Biz consistently holds a position among the top 5 market capitalizations of all Ordinal collections, boasting over 1,400 Bitcoin in secondary volume despite only 5,141 artworks available. This underscores its historical significance and dominance within the space.
